Reading Fluency Development:
A major organisational priority at the Triple Fun Club is get children reading as early as possible. Books are read and discussed under different guided reading plans. We pay great attention to fluency, diction and how words are pronounced. Those who cannot read, especially at the nursery and foundational stages, are taught to read. At the Triple Fun Club, we do not talk about reading, we simply read - knowing fully well the role of fluent reading in comprehension.
Our guided reading practice programme focuses on both individual and group reading. During these sessions, children are put in groups of about 10 taking cognisance of their ages and classes.
The core task waiting for our instructors are:
-
To model fluent reading in other for the children to appreciate good diction and reading skills .
-
To listen to the children read as well as help them improve on a need-to-need basis. The instructors are also empowered to hand over extra reading exercises whenever they see the need for same.
-
To ensure the children develop a sense of independent reading outside of what is done at group levels.
We have an array of books that is every child's delight. In fact, this is one major reason we engage very effectively at group levels. Each child in any reading group is entitled to a copy of whatever the group is reading. This again butresses why we are simply known for getting children reading rather than talk about reading. The children we work with learn to read fluently within a short period of time.
Since great writers are avid readers, one can understand why our children are great writers too.
