Reading & Fluency Development:
A major priority of the Triple Fun Club is to get children reading as early as possible. Books are read and discussed under different reading plans. Fluency, diction and pronunciations are all important aspects of this reading program. Those who cannot read, especially at the nursery and foundational stages, are taught to read. At the Triple Fun Club, we do not talk about reading, we simply read - knowing fully well the role fluent reading plays in comprehension.
Our guided reading program focuses on helping both individuals and groups. Children are grouped based on reading levels or skills sets.
Our instructors will do the following:
-
model fluent reading for the children with emphasis on accuracy, diction and intonation.
-
listen in while the children read to themselves or to others. This activity is aimed at helping the child involved while others are engaged differently. The instructor will also assign additional activities if need be.
-
ensure the children develop a sense of independence as it pertains to reading, processing and comprehension.
We have array of books that every child will love to read. In fact, this is one major reason we engage very effectively at group levels. Each child in any reading group is entitled to a copy of whatever the group is reading. This again buttresses why we can simply get children reading rather than talk about reading. The children we work with learn to read fluently within a short period of time.
Since great writers are avid readers, one can understand why our children are great writers too.
